Formula
Piece-rate pay per worker = Rate per unit × Units per worker per day × Days worked
Total piece-rate pay for the crew = Piece-rate pay per worker × Workers in the crew
Reference day-wage pay per worker = Reference day wage × Days worked
Break-even point = Reference day wage ÷ Rate per unit
Difference per worker = Piece-rate pay per worker − Reference day-wage pay per worker
The break-even point is the daily output per worker at which both methods pay the same. The comparison uses only the day wage entered: it excludes benefits, deductions, bonuses and local labor rules.
Worked example
A farm agrees to Q2.50 per unit, expects 80 units per worker per day, works with 6 people for 5 days and uses a Q150 reference day wage.

- Break-even point: Q150 ÷ Q2.50 = 60 units per worker per day
- Result: At 80 units per day, piece-rate pay is Q250 higher per worker and Q1,500 higher for the crew.

Frequently asked questions
What does the break-even point mean?
It is the number of units a worker must complete per day for piece-rate pay to equal the reference day wage. Divide the daily wage by the rate per unit. It is not a minimum wage and does not replace a review of local labor rules.
How is the crew total calculated?
The calculator multiplies one worker's pay by the number of people entered. It assumes everyone has the same rate, days and daily output; if they do not, calculate each group separately.
Are the figures I enter stored or transmitted?
No. The calculation runs in your browser. The figures are never sent to a server, never saved on the device, and disappear when you close or reload the page.
